Matthew S. Rossen, DMD, MD
“Exceptional”, “Gentle”, “Understanding” – These are just a few ways in which Dr. Matthew Rossen, DMD MD is often described. Providing the most advanced oral surgery techniques in a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere are Dr. Matthew Rossen’s top priorities. Dr. Rossen provides full scope oral and maxillofacial surgery with special interest in full arch dental implant reconstruction and related bone grafting procedures, management of wisdom teeth, surgical exposure for orthodontics, and removal of benign cysts and tumors.
Dr. Matthew Rossen joins our practice after moving back to the Buffalo area from South Florida, where he was born and raised. Having a father as a dentist and mother as a dental assistant, Dr. Rossen was exposed to the field of dentistry from an early age. Dr. Rossen completed his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology & Microbiology, with a Minor in Psychology, from the University of Central Florida. While completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Rossen founded the Zeta Chapter of Delta Epsilon Mu, a professional pre-health coed fraternity. From there, he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Boston University’s Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. During his time in Boston, Dr. Rossen served as President of his school’s chapter of Alpha Omega, the oldest international dental fraternity. He was selected as one of two students internationally to serve as International Student Representative, acting as a liason between all of the student and alumni chapters on an international level. After completing dental school, Dr. Rossen was accepted to an internship with John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, TX.
Dr. Rossen continued his training at the 6-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at SUNY University at Buffalo. He served on the UB resident committee as his program’s representative. He received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Rossen additionally completed a 1-year internship in General Surgery and received extensive training in hospital-based anesthesia. Dr. Rossen obtained comprehensive training throughout the Buffalo area including trauma and reconstruction at Erie County’s only level I trauma center ECMC, repair of craniofacial deformities and cleft lip/palate at Oishei Children’s Hospital, bone grafting and dental implant surgery serving veterans at the VA medical center. His training additionally included corrective jaw surgery, benign and malignant pathology, TMJ surgery, and extensive dentoalveolar surgery and administration of IV anesthesia. Following residency, he received additional training in the placement of zygomatic implants and full arch implant reconstruction.
Dr. Rossen provides quality oral surgery for his patients, caring for both adults and adolescents. His focus is the comfort and care of his patients. He enjoys getting to know his patients, understanding their needs in order to provide excellent care and a pleasant experience. Dr. Rossen is a firm believer in giving back to the community through volunteer work and outreach, and has dedicated time in underserved areas of the country with Remote Area Medical Volunteer Corps.
Dr. Matthew Rossen is a member of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity. He has been published in the New York State Dental Journal on a case report regarding severe maxillofacial infection.
In his spare time Dr. Rossen enjoys exploring the outdoors, rollerblading, listening to live music, and spending time with his girlfriend and their two Shih Tzus, Oscar and Sammy. He considers himself to be a foodie with a passion for technology and true Marvel fan.
