Dr. Armando Uribe Rivera, DDS, MS

Dr. Armando Uribe Rivera is often described as a gentleman, diligent and passionate for his work. Dr. Uribe Rivera provides a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with special interest in postoperative pain management, personalized medicine, implant dentistry, management of wisdom teeth and other craniofacial anomalies.

 Dr. Uribe Rivera joins our practice in the Fall of 2019. He is a native to Tamaulipas, Mexico (located at the northeast underneath the State of Texas). Dr. Uribe Rivera received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico. After completing Dental School, Dr. Uribe Rivera was accepted for his internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department in Monterrey, Mexico at the Clinica Hospital Constitution ISSSTE. Then, he graduated from the 4-year training program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Universidad Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico, City. After his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training, Dr. Uribe Rivera was the first DDS accepted in one of the largest Children’s Hospitals in Mexico City to complete his training in Craniofacial Surgery with special interest in mandibular distraction techniques and craniofacial deformities surgical managements.

After his training in craniofacial surgery, Dr. Uribe Rivera completed two research fellowships in Cincinnati, OH  with focus on craniofacial developmental biology, genomics and novel techniques of jaw surgery in both Plastic Surgery Division at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Division at the University of Cincinnati. These trainings inspired Dr. Uribe Rivera to expand his scope of research to innovative, effective and safe methods that can be applied to clinical practice and change the clinical outcomes of his patients. While his training in Ohio, Dr. Uribe Rivera research work turned into dozens of publications in top-notched medical and dental journals including; The Journal of the American Medical Association- Otolaryngology archives, Plastic Reconstructive Surgery, The New York State Dental Journal and The Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to name a few.

Dr. Uribe Rivera moved to Upstate N.Y. to complete his residency training at Eastman Institute for Oral Health and Strong Memorial Hospital Medical Center and enrolled at the Master of Science in Clinical Investigation program from the Public Health Department at the University of Rochester. Dr. Uribe Rivera expanded his training in IV sedation techniques in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department in Augusta University Dental College at Augusta, Georgia under the leadership of Dr. Henry W. Fergusson.

He accepted an academic position as Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine and Dentistry. There, he works with residents and provide clinical care for his patients at Eastman Institute for Oral Health clinics. In addition, Dr. Uribe Rivera has accepted an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at SUNY University at Buffalo to expand his academic goals.

Dr. Uribe Rivera research endeavors has turned into co-authorship of book chapters, multiple publications and awards for his excellence in research from prestigious medical associations, such as, the American Society of Plastic Surgery. He was granted a Fellowship award for excellence in oral health research from Eastman Institute for Oral Health at The University of Rochester.

In his spare time Dr. Uribe Rivera enjoys spending time with his wife and three beautiful children. He loves the family movie nights, traveling with his family and go to the movie theater. He also is a passionate of music, boxing, tennis and basketball.
